For those audiobook fans, I enjoyed the audiobook version of this book. The narrator did a great job telling the story. I have read a few Freida McFadden books and she has yet to disappoint me.
“The Boyfriend” by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller that intertwines two narratives:
- Sydney Shaw’s Present-Day Story: Sydney, a single woman in New York City, has endured a series of disappointing dates. Her luck seems to change when she meets a charming and handsome doctor. However, as their relationship progresses, Sydney becomes aware of a series of brutal murders where the perpetrator dates his victims before killing them. She begins to suspect that her seemingly perfect boyfriend might be hiding a sinister side.
- Tom’s Past Story: In a parallel narrative set in the past, a teenager named Tom deals with an abusive father and harbors a fascination with a girl named Daisy. His life becomes increasingly complicated as he grapples with dark thoughts and unsettling events.
As the novel progresses, these two storylines converge, leading to unexpected twists and revelations. McFadden crafts a suspenseful tale that delves into themes of obsession and the search for love.
