The Memory of Lavender and Sage by Runyan, Aimie K.

“The Memory of Lavender and Sage” by Aimie K. Runyan is a heartwarming novel that follows Tempèsta Luddington, a New York City food critic who feels disconnected from her family after her mother’s death when she was thirteen. Following her father’s passing, Tempèsta decides to visit Sainte-Colombe, a quaint village in Provence, France, where her mother grew up. There, she impulsively purchases a dilapidated farmhouse and begins to immerse herself in the local community. As she renovates her new home and cultivates a herb garden, Tempèsta uncovers hidden aspects of her mother’s past and discovers her own sense of belonging. The novel beautifully explores themes of self-discovery, the importance of community, and the enduring power of love and trust.
