Manga Books

Manga are Japanese comic books or graphic novels that encompass a wide range of genres and styles, often serialized in magazines before being compiled into volumes. They are typically read from right to left and top to bottom, following traditional Japanese reading patterns. Manga can appeal to various audiences, from children to adults, with genres like action, romance, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and slice-of-life. Popular examples include Naruto, One Piece, and Attack on Titan. Manga often serves as the source material for anime adaptations.

Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Manga

The Twisted Wonderland manga series is based on the popular mobile game Disney Twisted-Wonderland, which reimagines classic Disney villains in a fantasy academy setting. The story follows Yuu, a protagonist who mysteriously finds themselves in Night Raven College, an all-boys magical academy. They must navigate the challenges of being in a strange world while uncovering the secrets of the school and its eccentric students.

The manga primarily explores the lives and personalities of the dorm leaders and students, each inspired by iconic Disney villains like the Queen of Hearts, Scar, Ursula, Maleficent, and others. Divided into dorm-themed arcs (e.g., Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, etc.), the series delves into their unique cultures, magic, and backstories, blending humor, drama, and intrigue. It expands on the game’s worldbuilding and provides a fresh perspective on these darkly charismatic characters.

This was my first experience in reading manga series. I decided to try something new and absolutely loved it. As a huge fan of Disney and love of reading different spins on their classic tales, I didn’t want to lose out on other ways to enjoy my favorite Disney stories. The graphics were also amazing. If you haven’t read manga, this is a good start. It was different as I had never read a book left to right, but with time and patience, I was able to get in a good rhythm and learned I liked it and will continue to explore more manga.
