Podcast: Overbooked by Paige & Kelsey

I tried something new and absolutely loved it! This was my first time listening to a podcast after reading a book. The podcast session I listened to was about “The Measure” by Nikki Erlick. The discussion was very well structured, they definitely knew what they were talking about, and the sound was very high quality. I highly recommend you check Overbooked out.

Paige & Kelsey are two close friends who bonded over their love of reading. A pandemic-inspired book club slowly morphed into the idea of starting a book club podcast. In February of 2023, Overbooked was launched. Paige & Kelsey wanted to connect with readers of all kinds – from anyone dipping their toes into the reading world to the avid readers racking up the pages. The podcast releases two episode types a month:

  1. Book Club Episode: This episode format is released on the 1st of each month. A month prior, they announce the book club pick and you can choose to read along with them. The episode is a longer format (~1 hour), and they do a deep dive into the book club pick. They discuss the book from start to finish – so be wary of spoilers. However, the time that they begin spoiling is always listed in the show notes, in case you haven’t finished reading! They each score the book on a scale of 1-5 over four categories: (1.) Plot, (2.) Character Development, (3.) Writing Style, and (4.) Scene Setting. They then take their scores’ average for their “Official Overbooked Rating” (see a sample attached).
  2. Extra Credit Episode: This episode format is released on the 15th of each month. It’s shorter (20 – 30 minutes), and they cover two books that they’ve both recently read at a high level. This episode is spoiler free and can be listened to by anyone. If you’ve read the books, you can hear their hot takes on it. If you haven’t read, you can listen and see if these books would be something you would be interested in reading yourself!
